Blue Heat

What sparks your temper? Is it the constant prodding or the outright offense? Anger is something that is different for everyone. It can be the result of betrayal, frustration or even come from love or sadness. What matters is how you react to the impulse of anger when it hits you and you start seeing red. This design, created by Spanish artist Encarna Dorado, is meant to remind you to take a deep breath, count to ten and give your mind a chance to catch up with your heart. Like the person on this design, you might just need to stop, tuck your head and let it all slowly drain back out of you.

What do you think of this design?  What images and thoughts does it conjure up in you and how does it help show the world who you are?  Add to the conversation by commenting below.

The shade of electric blue used by the artist on the skin of the two subjects is nice. It’s interesting that the hand in the foreground is a photo, while the figure up the page a bit is painted. There seems to be a statement being made about the danger of becoming lost in dreams, but it’s hard to be sure. Certainly the owner of the hand is distresses, while the curled figure is lost in dreams and lost in general.

I’m especially intrigued by the hand in the lower right hand corner. I feel that it’s meaning is duplicitous; it could refer to the fact that often times, getting out of a dark place is a journey we often must take alone, since helping hands are generally out of reach. The strings with the horseshoes also bring to mind the idea that our thoughts and actions can be dictated by our anxieties, much like a puppet on a string.

The colors here are dark and moody, which I like. However, I’m not sure what the horseshoe shapes are tied to the person’s fingers. It seems like they could be magnets, or maybe they are just abstractions that are supposed to represent letting go. Lots of tension in this image.
